L’esperienza che il ristorante Under offrirà ai suoi ospiti promette di essere davvero eccezionale.
Non a caso il ristorante che aprirà in Norvegia nel 2018 sarà chiamato “Under” perché questa
parola in norvegese ha delle assonanze con il vocabolo “meraviglia”.
Under sarà infatti il primo ristorante europeo sotto il livello del mare. Un mare che non è quello dei
Paesi caldi con i coralli e i pesci tropicali ma il freddo mare del nord.
Il progetto
Il progetto firmato dallo studio Snøhetta consiste nella costruzione di un edificio nel villaggio di Båly
sulla costa sud della Norvegia, a circa 500 km da Oslo.
Il ristorante Under, che accoglierà fino a un centinaio di persone, troverà spazio in un monolito di
cemento grezzo.
Una parte dell’edificio sarà appoggiato sulla terra ferma, l’altra parte sarà immersa nell’acqua.
Nell’edificio sarà creato anche un centro di ricerca marina dove saranno condotti studi sul
comportamento della fauna ittica.
Dalla grande finestra panoramica di ben 11 metri del ristorante si potrà ammirare il mondo
sottomarino sperimentando le emozioni che si provano durante una immersione subacquea.
Un’esperienza affascinante che tutti potranno fare, visto che anche nelle stagioni più fredde le
condizioni saranno decisamente confortevoli.
La sala da pranzo del ristorante sarà decorata con una palette sui toni del verde e del blu mentre
nello champagne bar i colori saranno quelli più delicati delle rocce e della sabbia.
L’edificio, concepito per non turbare il delicato ecosistema marino, con il tempo si integrerà
perfettamente nell’ambiente come se fosse una grande formazione rocciosa.
Oltre a sopportare la pressione e le condizioni estreme del mare del nord, le murature in calcestruzzo
spesse un metro garantiranno all’interno le condizioni ottimali per la permanenza degli esseri umani.
All’esterno invece, grazie alla texture porosa del cemento, le pareti della struttura costituiranno un
ancoraggio ideale per i mitili che purificheranno l’acqua del mare richiamando altre specie di creature
marine.
Lo studio di architettura Snøhetta ha già progettato importanti edifici proprio sulle rive del mare
come ad esempio la famosa Oslo Opera House.
Under restaurant
The experience that the Under restaurant will offer to its guests promises to be truly exceptional.
No coincidence that the restaurant that will open in Norway in 2018 will be called “Under” because this word in Norwegian has similarities with the word “wonder”.
In fact, Under will be the first European restaurant below sea level. A sea that is not the one of warm countries with corals and tropical fish but the cold sea of the north.
The project
The project signed by Snøhetta is the construction of a building in the village of Båly on the south coast of Norway, about 500 km from Oslo.
The Under restaurant, which will welcome up to a hundred people, will find space in a rough concrete monolith.
A part of the building will be placed on dry land, the other part will be immersed in water.
In the building will be created a marine research center where studies on the behavior of fish fauna will be conducted.
From the large 11-meter panoramic window of the restaurant you will admire the underwater world experiencing the emotions you could experience during an underwater dive.
A fascinating experience that everyone can do, since even in colder seasons the conditions will be very comfortable.
The dining room of the restaurant will be decorated with a palette of shades of green and blue shades while in the champagne bar the colors will be the most delicate of the rocks and sand.
The building, designed not to disturb the delicate marine ecosystem, with time will integrate perfectly into the environment as if it were a large rock formation.
In addition to enduring the pressure and extreme conditions of the North Sea, the one meter thick concrete walls will ensure optimal conditions for the permanence of human beings inside.
Outside, however, thanks to the porous cement texture, the walls of the structure will be an ideal anchor for the mussels that will purify the water of the sea recalling other species of marine creatures.
The Snøhetta architectural firm has already designed important buildings right on the sea shores, such as the famous Oslo Opera House.
